IN THY LIGHT

Morning Meditation 12/30/15

In reading the Psalms, I came to 36:9 and the words "in thy light shall we see light. " Then I began to read a portion from "WE WOULD SEE JESUS" by Roy Hession. Chapter two of his book is SEEING GOD IN THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST. He deals with 2 Cor. 4:6: "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. " Light is invisible unless it shines upon some object. We think we see a ray of sunshine shining into the room. But that is not so. We see only the particles in the air upon which the light shines and which thus reveal the presence of light. God is light (1 John 1:5). But He is invisible and unknowable unless He shines upon some object that will reveal Him.

We are told in 2 Cor.. 4:6 what the object is upon which God shines. It is the face of Jesus Christ. J/esus is called three things. He is the Word which is the expression of the thought. He is the "brightness of His glory. " Glory is that in anything that calls for praise. He is the "express image of his person. " The wax impress is the exact expression of the seal.

So, when we respond to the gospel by faith, Christ comes into our hearts. This is declared a revealed mystery in Col. 1:27. God shines upon the face of Jesus within us and three things happen. He is revealing His word as He shines upon the face of Jesus within us. His very image is revealed as He shines in our hearts upon the face of Jesus. The brightness of His glory is revealed as he shines in our hearts upon the face of Jesus. No wonder Paul prayed for Christians in Ephesus who already had Jesus as their personal Saviour: Chapter 3:16: "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man. "

There are so many times Jesus is in the shadows in my heart. He does not occupy the number one place. Therefore as the Sun of God shines in my heart, there is not object to reflect the LIGHT. It is there, but when SELF is on the throne of my heart, the rays of God will not be seen.. Self is incapable of revealing God. When this happens, there is only one thing to do. Repent and by faith get Jesus back where He belongs. And once again as a cleansed sinner, GRACE restores Jesus to His place of prominence and the LIGHT that was always there begins to reflect "the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. "

That was a blessing to me this morning. I hope you enjoy it.

In Christ
