JESUS AS THE WAY

John 14:6

Morning Meditations 6/7/17

I wrote on Christ as the Door. I want us to think of Christ as the Way. The Door is a means of entrance. But there needs to be a Way to maintain what we received by entering through the Door. Well, Jesus is the Way. He is not only the Door but He is also the Way.

Jesus said in John chapter 14 and verse six: “...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

As we think of this verse, lets think of Him as the Way. There are no less than six times that Christianity is referred to as “this way” in the Book of Acts (Acts 9:2; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22).

Jesus is the Way to the Father. He said “No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” This is not just for salvation. It is also for fellowship. 1 John 1:3-4 says “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.”

Hebrews chapter 10:19-23 says, “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”

I don’t think anyone would disagree that if you get into the Holiest you are experiencing personal revival. One cannot be in the Holiest without having peace and joy unspeakable and full of glory as the song says. Jesus is the Way there.

There is not a way to the Way. If you make prayer the way to the Way you will fail. There is no way to the way. The more you attempt to make a way to the Way the more the Way moves further away. The Way comes to you. You do not attempt to find it. The Way seeks you and finds you.

There is a good comment on this in Westley Nelsons book “Captivated by Christ.” Let me share this paragraph:

“Because prayer is revitalized through fellowship with Christ, there is a tendency to look upon prayer as a way to Christ, and to try vainly to pray more fervently in order to come closer to Him. The Bible witnesses to Christ, and when Christ is near, the Bible is a new book. Therefore some torment themselves for not reading or studying it more faithfully in order to know Him better. Christ is the Way to the Bible, as He is to prayer. The Spirit of Christ Himself must speak through the pages of the Scriptures before they can become meaningful. The time of daily personal devotions becomes a more blessed experience to those who know Christ intimately. Sometimes this tends to be looked upon as a way to Christ, and the responsibility to keep it only adds to the burden of a troubled conscience. The sheep do not come to the still waters to find the Shepherd. It is the Shepherd Himself who leads them beside the still waters. Christ is immediately available right where we are, as we are. He in turn becomes the way to these various means of worship. He leads us into the forms of personal devotion and worship which are most adapted to each one’s spiritual needs.”

The moment I seek a way to the Way, I get in trouble. And believe me I have been in trouble a lot. When I discovered that Jesus is the Way to all these things, it transformed my life into a fellowship with Him and with the Father. And brethren, that is personal revival. Jesus is revival. Revival is not a way to get to Him. Oh the joy of fellowship with Him. And I don’t have to seek Him. He is right there. When He is there, and I seek Him in other places, He is hurt and disappointed. He wants my fellowship. Can you believe that? He has given Himself for me and to me. Not just for me but to me (Col 1:27). Faith makes His unseen presence real to my present experience. I am not seeking joy. I am enjoying Him. He is the Way.

May God bless these words to your heart.

Those who want others to be on my mailing list. Have them sent me their e-mail address and request it. I will be glad to put them on my list. Please pray for me as share these wonderful truths. These are just brief thoughts and not intended to be thorough. You could probably do a better job at this than I. But if the Lord can use these Meditations to pollinate your own thinking, they will accomplish what I intend.

God bless all of you.

In Christ

Earl White, Gal. 2:20
