SUBMIT YOURSELVES TO GOD

James 4:6-7

Morning Meditation 2/15/2013

James 4:6-7, "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

MORE GRACE

There is grace for salvation. This is brought out in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Grace is the unmerited favor of God. Every Christian has obtained this grace.

There is grace for service. This is what our text is speaking about. Paul says, “He giveth more grace.” We need more grace for service. It is available to faith.

GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD

God hates pride and man has a problem with pride. Pro 8:13, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” God resisteth the proud. He stands in the way of the proud. He giveth grace to the humble. The life of victory is found by the humble.

THE WAY OF SUBMISSION

“Submit yourselves therefore to God.” Because God resisteth the proud. The way of the righteous is submission. This is a military term. Submission is a choice. The believer needs to recognize the value of submission in the Christian life and submit himself to the Lord. Bring yourself under His control. This is submission.

STRONG OPPOSITION

The Devil will do anything he can to prevent this from happening. We must actively engage ourselves in resistance against the devil. But there is a happy outcome for the one who resists him. Our text says, “He will flee from you.”

In Christ
