Morning Meditation 11/20/14

"And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;"

I will mention several passages in this meditation that the Bible says the Christian ought to do. I will begin with our text.

MEN OUGHT TO PRAY AND NOT FAINT

First of all, Jesus said, “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” It makes a difference about who is speaking. All the Bible is the inerrant verbally inspired Word of God. If Jesus came today and brought a message, He would not say anything different than what is in the Bible. Why? Because the Bible is the inspired Word of God.

A real battle is raging among Christians in the U.S. over the many translations that are being put out today. Some say, “this new translation is the Word of God because it more accurately translates the original texts.” Then someone else says, “no, this one is the right translation. It is the one that more accurately translates the original texts.”

Most of the people who make these remarks have done very little research on the subject. This means they are not stating a studied opinion with reasonable logic to back it up, they are simply parroting what so preacher has said who in most cases has not himself done any real research on the subject. He heard another preacher “say” that a certain version more accurately reflects the best translation of the “so called oldest manuscripts.”

For a manuscript to be old does not make it right. The two men who developed the idea of correcting the King James Version were Catholics, worshipped the virgin Mary, and did not believe the verbal inerrant inspired Word of God. Men who do not believe this do not mind changing words in favor of other manuscripts.

I personally believe that the King James Version is an accurate translation of the right original text. I believe that God preserved His Word in this translation for the English speaking people. I offer only one argument. God has blessed the use of this version more than any other translation for the last 400 years. I believe this is enough to caution me from using another translation since I’m not a scholar of manuscript evidence. I have studied manuscript evidence for years and continue to do so and every time I do I am more convinced than ever before that we have the right translation. Just remember this. The translation can be no better than the text from which it is translated. If you think the wrong text was used, it would be logical for you to buy the translation that was made from that text. Even most preachers are not trained enough in Bible languages to predict with any accuracy that the Textus Receptus from which our King James Bible was translated should be thrown out in favor of what I believe are corrupt texts. Woe be to the man who changes the Word of God. I believe I’ll stay with the translation that no one can deny that God has blessed for the last four hundred years..
