SEVEN GREAT FACTS REVEALED IN GENESIS

Gen. 1:1

Morning Meditation 1/13/15

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

Genesis means beginning. This book has been called "the seed plot of the Bible," from the fact, that nearly every truth is the Word of God is foreshadowed here. There is no uncertain sound in Genesis. God speaks with authority in this book declaring facts. Let's look at some of the facts.

THE FIRST FACT

God is before everything else. Tozer said, "God is previous." "When did God have a beginning?" ask a Sunday School student to his teacher. The teacher was at a loss for an answer for a moment. Finally he exclaimed, "There had to be someone without a beginning to create a beginning."

There are some who tell us that God evolved from something, and began to be, but we ask who made the something? We must be content to believe in Jehovah, the One who always was, who always is, and who always will be.

THE SECOND FACT

God created all things. John said of the Eternal Word, "John 1:3, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

Someone said of His creating, "The heavens with their glory; the earth with its beauty; the sea in its majesty; the animals in their varity; the birds with their song; the flowers in their splendor; the fish in their plentitude; and man with his intellect and powers."

THE THIRD FACT

God made man in innocence. There is a difference between an innocent and a holy man. The innocent man is not conscious of evil; the holy man is, and overcomes it. Our first parents were innocent and pure. Without sin, but not beyond the possibility of sinning.

THE FOURTH FACT

Sin was introduced into this world by Satan. Then sin was before our first parents fell. Satan came to them in subtility, and through his sly and wicked hatred of God and man, he was able to succeed in his temptation of Eve and then of Adam. And Adam's sin is passed hereditarily to the whole human race. Romans 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"

THE FIFTH FACT

Sin has separated man from God. The moment man sinned he became dead to God. He was alive physically but dead spiritually. This means that he was separated from God without the possibility of communicating with God. There was a God but One that Adam ceased to know and have fellowship with.

THE SIXTH FACT

A Deliverer was foretold. The Seed of the woman shall bruise Satan's head. This is a promise given, and a fact stated. Adam and Eve did not misunderstand this promise. Eve thought she gave birth in fulfilment of this promise when she had Cain. Eve said at his birth, "I have gotten a man from the LORD."

THE SEVENTH FACT

Sin always bring punishment. Adam and Eve were driven from the garden, then the destruction of the world in the flood, and the smoking ruins of Sodom. Man must be punished for his sin or accept God's means of forgiveness. Isaiah tells us God has made a way: Isaiah 53:3-7, "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth." Faith in God's slain Lamb, the Lord Jesus, reconciles the sinner to God. Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

May the Lord bless these words to our hearts.

In Christ
