Jesus Weeps Over The Nation of Israel

Matthew 23:37-39

Morning Meditation 5/16/2013

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Thou That Killest the Prophets, and Stonest Them Which Are Sent unto Thee, How Often Would I Have Gathered Thy Children Together, Even as a Hen Gathereth Her Chickens under Her Wings, and Ye Would Not! Behold, Your House Is Left unto You Desolate. For I Say unto You, Ye Shall Not See Me Henceforth, till Ye Shall Say, Blessed Is He That Cometh in the Name of the Lord."

The Creator Stands and Overlooks the City of Jerusalem and Weeps for Her. He Knows There Is No Hope for Them Apart from Faith in What He Says. They Have Rejected Him as the Messiah Even Though He Had in Himself and in His Works Every Authenticating Miracle Necessary to Identify Him. But the Leaders of Israel Did Not Turn a Page in Holy Scrolls to Check Him Out. Let's Notice the Following:

The Love of The Son

Love Is the Essence of His Attitude Toward His People. It Grieves Him in Particular Because He Knows the Intense Suffering That Is to Come on Israel. This Could Have Been Prevented If Only They Had Allowed Jesus to Gather Them under His Wings of Protection.

We See the Longing of His Stretched out Soul as He Sobs out the Words, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem." He Wept for Them and His Tears Were Rejected. Therefore Their House Would Be Left unto Them Desolate. It Will Take Eternity to Make Us Understand Why Jerusalem Is God's Choice for the Nation of Israel. He Has Put a Love in Their Hearts for Jerusalem and this Is the Reason for the Massive Return to That Land in Recent Years. A Lot of Suffering Lies Ahead for the Nation Because They Chose to Walk in Their Own Way.

Matthew 24:1-8, "And Jesus Went Out, and Departed from the Temple: and His Disciples Came to Him for to Shew Him the Buildings of the Temple. And Jesus Said unto Them, See Ye Not All These Things? Verily I Say unto You, There Shall Not Be Left Here One Stone upon Another, That Shall Not Be Thrown Down. And as He Sat upon the Mount of Olives, the Disciples Came unto Him Privately, Saying, Tell Us, When Shall These Things Be? And What Shall Be the Sign of Thy Coming, and of the End of the World? And Jesus Answered and Said unto Them, Take Heed That No Man Deceive You. For Many Shall Come in My Name, Saying, I Am Christ; and Shall Deceive Many. And Ye Shall Hear of Wars and Rumors of Wars: See That Ye Be Not Troubled: for All These Things must Come to Pass, but the End Is Not Yet. For Nation Shall Rise Against Nation, and Kingdom Against Kingdom: and There Shall Be Famines, and Pestilences, and Earthquakes, in Divers Places. All These Are the Beginning of Sorrows."

Believers Should Not Be Caught Unaware. I Pray That We Will Not Be as Blind as Israel Was When They Rejected Him and All His Miraculous Deeds. The World Is in the Shape it Is in Because They Have Rejected the Messiah as Saviour and Lord.

The Fact Is That All Those Who Reject Him Will One Day Bow Before Him in Humble and Fearful Reverence to His Name. Philippians 2:10-11 Says, "That at the Name of Jesus Every Knee Should Bow, of Things in Heaven, and Things in Earth, and Things under the Earth; And That Every Tongue Should Confess That Jesus Christ Is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father."

The Condition of The Nation

First of All the Nation Was Destitute of God. No One Could Come to Jerusalem and Find God. The Ethiopian Eunuch Had Been to Jerusalem to Find Peace with God but Was on His Way Home Empty Handed. As He Traveled along Through a Desert Place Suddenly Philip Was Directed by the Lord to Help this Man. So Philip Began at the Scripture (Isa. 53) and Preached unto Him Jesus. Then Eunuch Took in What Philip Had Said and Received Christ as a Personal Saviour and Was Baptized as a Token of His Acceptance of Our Lord as His Saviour. Philip Was Caught Away and the Eunuch Drove Away Rejoicing in His Newly Found Faith. The Nation Was in No Condition to Help a Sinner Find Jesus. The Nation Was Bankrupt Spiritually.

The Responsibility of Personal Choice

Jesus Had Said to the Nation in John 5:40, "And Ye Will Not Come to Me, That Ye Might Have Life." And this Is the Real Problem Today. Israel Believes in the Existence of God but Rejects Completely out of Hand That Jesus Was the Messiah Who Could Save them Personally an Nationality.

Every Man Who Hears the Gospel Has the Right of Personal Choice. God Sees to it That They Have the Offer of His Great Salvation. Jesus Died for the Sins of the Whole World but the World must Come to Him in True Repentance. I Am Afraid this Is Not Going to Happen.

Jesus Stands Ready to Save All That Call upon Him. But Man Is So Distracted by His Sins That He Rejects the Gospel and this Leaves Him under Condemnation and Will for Eternity. There Will Be No Second Chance. It Is Either Now Nor Ever. May the Lord Give Grace for Us to Make the Right Choice.

May the Lord Bless These World to Our Hearts.

In Christ

Bro. White
