TRANSFORMING GRACE

Rom 5:2

Morning Meditation 2/24/2013

Romans 5:2, "By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."

The grace of God, which bringeth salvation, works a complete transformation in the life and relationship of all who believe.

IT CHANGES OUR RELATIONSHIP TO GOD THE FATHER

We are no longer enemies but sons. Instead of being under the wrath of God we are under His special care. This is a loving relationship to God. We are the apple of His eye. We are special people to Him. While we are despised by the world we are the objects of His love and care.

IT CHANGES OUR RELATIONSHIP TO CHRIST THE SON

We were without Him, and without hope, but now grace has made us nigh---united to Him, cleansed by His blood, and kept by His power.

We now have a special relationship to Jesus. “Where two or three are gathered together in my name there am in the midst of them.” There is a holy fellowship with Him.

1 John 1:3, "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."

IT CHANGES OUR RELATIONSHIP TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Before our salvation He had no place in our hearts. Now He abides within as our Guide and Comforter.

Holy Ghost with light divine,

Shine upon this heart of mine;

Chase the shades of night away

Turn my darkness into day.

Holy Spirit all divine

Dwell within this heart of mine;

Cast down every idol throne,

Reign supreme and reign alone.

IT HAS CHANGED OUR RELATIONSHIP TO THE LAW

Before grace came the law was a heavy burden. Now we are not under the law, but under grace. Oh, what a difference! The law is being fulfilled in those who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Rom 8:4).

IT CHANGES OUR RELATIONSHIP TO THE POWER OF SIN

Sin used to have dominion over us; we were its slaves. Now its guilt has been cleansed and its power broken. We have been freed from sin’s power to enslave.

IT CHANGES OUR RELATIONSHIP TO THIS PRESENT WORLD

In Times past we walked according to the course of this world. But now we have been chosen out of it. We hate the things we once loved. The world now hates us.

IT CHANGES OUR RELATIONSHIP TO GOOD WORKS

Until grace came we trusted in our good works for salvation, but being saved by grace without them, we now become co-workers with God.

Instead of working for salvation we are working because of salvation.

To the work to the work!

We are servants of God,

Let us follow the path that our Master has trod

With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew,

Let us do with our might what our hands find to do.

To the work! To the work! In the strength of the Lord,

And a robe and a crown shall our labor reward,

When the home of the faithful

Our dwelling shall be

And we shout with the ransomed salvation is free!

May these words be a blessing to our hearts.
